Ball Boyz set to land Rapisarda

Nicolo Rapisarda is set to be revealed as a new signing for the Ball Boyz. Talks are still being held to sign the free agent, but it the deal is almost done. He would be the third signining during this Christmas transfer window after Jacopo Fioravanti and Alessandro Frione. However, it is likely that Rapisarda will put pen to paper at the start of January as he is still waiting for his visa to come through. But the majority of the fans and players would be delighted to have Rapisarda in the team.
"I think we need a striker that can control the ball high in the air, and also head in goals off crosses," says the top scorer Alessandro Indaimo. "I think that we would be able to score many more goals if we had a striker like that, and my suggestion would be to have him (Nicolo Rapisarda) as our centre-forward. We also need a striker that is match-fit, seeing as we have no other options at the moment."
However, you have to question why Alfredo Macchi has failed to make any more appearences for the Ball Boyz. The last time he played, was the BB's last victory, the 3-0 win over SPES.
There are also some sources that link the BB's with Lodovico Rapisarda, Nicolo's younger brother, as a possible short-term replacement for Matteo Fumagalli in goal.
Meanwhile, the majority of the trialists have been sent home, including Thomas Lee who returned to China last wednesday. However, Tommaso Rombelli (the younger brother of the in-form defender Giacomo Rombelli) has impressed the manager Mark Worden, and may put pen to paper in the upcoming weeks. He too may be a possible short-term replacement for Matteo Fumagalli, but it has also been reported that Gianni Torti has recovered from his finger injury and may return between the sticks for the Ball Boyz against SLV.

Summary of Events

The polls have shut in terms of fans voting. The MVP award vs. S. Nicolao Forlanini was shared between Thomas Worden and Federico Torti. They both got 37% of the votes where as Davide Ravaccia got 25% of the votes. Thomas Worden was the emergency goal keeper for the BB's seeing as Matteo Fumagalli and Gianni Torti were injured. He let in 10 goals, but it was a brave performance by the englishman.
Federico Torti, on the other hand, proved to be a great leader once more, encouraging the team and having a great game in defence. He has been a solid and consistent defender for the Ball Boyz this year, and that is probably why you voted for him as Player of the Year 2011. He received 50% of the votes while and Matteo Fumagalli, Alessandro Indaimo, Alfredo Macchi and Thomas Worden each had 12% of the votes.
The friendly on the other hand was a defeat for the Ball Boyz, it ended 4-3, against a team containing some "familiar faces". However the Ball Boyz looked dangerous in attack but need to be more sharp on target. With only one sub, the BB's made continous substitution. All in all it was a good game for the BB's, and they can hopefully pick up some touches of magic and apply them in the subsequent games.
The BB's (1-2-1): T. Rombelli (trialist), F. Torti, G. Rombelli, Ravaccia, Lee (trialist). Subs: Fioravanti.
Whites: (1-2-1): Trialist, Trialist, Piazzi, Worden, Trialist.
All in all it has been an aventful year for the Snakes, and it can only get better for the Ball Boyz next year. All the best, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year...

S. Nicolao Forlanini 10-4 Ball Boyz

It wasn't a performance to remember for emergency goalkeeper Thomas Worden, but you have to question the fixture list for playing a game during the S. Ambrogio holiday. Nonetheless, it was a performance to remember for the outfield players. In form striker Alessandro Indaimo was not able to continue his goal scoring streak, but was able to produce some wonderful passes and crosses. Two goals were scored from the fit winger, Davide Ravaccia, that was unable to play in the last game. Federico Torti, Giacomo Rombelli and Santiago Ferrari were able to make it 11 appearences out of 11. The defence looked quite solid, despite the absence of Giovanni Mazzaro, who was well replaced by Pietro Piazzi. Federico Torti proved to be a good captain once again, and Giacomo Rombelli netted his first two goals of the campaign. Meanwhile Santiago Ferrari played a good game of football. All in all it was a good result, considering that Matteo Fumagalli, Giovanni Mazzaro and Alfredo Macchi were not available. And in the eyes of many, it was the best passing performance seen so far.
However, the team looked a bit more demoralised than usual, and the fact that S. Nicolao are second in the table may have been a factor. Then some players were often out of position. And worst of all the disorganisation before the game, and the words said on the pitch.
But lets hope the Ball Boyz keep their heads high and keep playing this attractive game of football.
Line-up and ratings: (3-2-1) Thomas Worden 2; Pietro Piazzi 7, Federico Torti 8, Giacomo Rombelli 8; Davide Ravaccia 8, Alessandro Indaimo 8; Santiago Ferrari 7.
